a walk in the woods

Just found this post on Buzzfeed about backpacking trips. Living out of a backpack is something I recommend every try at least once. It was liberating to know that all I needed was on my back and that it wasn't a lot. Shades, a tooth brush, flip-flops and a good attitude- you really don't need much else.

While I've backpacked around the world, I haven't backpacked much where I camped outdoors- which if you check out the article linked in above, will see why carrying a little leads to larger than life experiences. I've been looking into "El Camino Santiago" for a while, partly inspired by Paulo Coelho's "The Pilgrimage," partly to understand more of what influenced this hiker's writing, but mostly because it seems to be a good starting point for a backpacking trip.

Here's a goodie for you... This was taken 2012 in Argentina after a 23 hour bus ride, hope you enjoy the glorious facial expression- I think I was doing laundry.... Note the purple backpack, it's like a big hug that's been with me in Africa and South America! It fits my tent (green) and sleeping bag (blue) plus enough clothes for 5 weeks on the road.
